History
The Husch Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon gives the winemaking team an opportunity to showcase the year’s standout lots in their own exclusive blend. We carefully select our favorite barrels from our favorite lots, using an “only the best” philosophy. In some years, the vintage might not meet our highest expectation, and we simply skip bottling a Reserve. In the years that meet our high bar, you can always expect a wine with intense fruit flavors, a rich palate, and plenty of structure for cellaring.

Winemaking
2021 was an eventful growing season, with favorable weather overall, though it was marked by the challenges of a second consecutive drought year. Despite typical hurdles, the teams’ meticulous efforts were evident in the harvest, yielding small, vibrant berries that boasted soft tannins and intensely concentrated fruit flavors. These grapes were carefully fermented in small batches and matured over twenty-eight months in premium, French oak barrels. As the wine aged gracefully, the winemaking team handpicked the most exceptional lots and standout barrels, ensuring only the finest expressions made the cut. This barrel selection ultimately earned the coveted Reserve designation.

Tasting Notes
Our 2021 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon is a bold, elegant wine with exceptional structure. The nose has ripe dark fruit, showcasing black currant, black cherry, and hints of blueberry, intertwined with subtle notes of tobacco and vanilla bean. On the palate, velvety tannins and a refined acidity create a harmonious balance. This opulent wine pairs wonderfully with grilled ribeye steak, rosemary-infused lamb chops, earthy wild mushroom risotto, or rich dark chocolate cake.
