2024 Reserve Pinot Noir - Anderson Valley
History
At Husch, we select our reserve wine from the vineyard blocks that prove to be each vintage's standouts. Each lot is given special handling and aged in our favorite French oak barrels. Building a blend from the shining stars in the winery lets Anderson Valley Pinot show its most exciting qualities.
Winemaking
The growing season for 2024 got off to an early start given the ample winter and early spring rain. The season continued with ideal growing conditions until a single short lived heat spike in early July. Diligent preparation in the vineyard and focused irrigation management allowed the vines to get back on track quickly and finish the slow ripening process perfectly for an early harvest. This perfect ripening, cool nights, foggy mornings and evenings with a gradual warming leads to steady, even fruit development while maintaining acidity and highlighting the flavors our appellation is known for. The fruit selected for this wine came from four vineyard blocks spanning from Boonville to the deep end. Hand-harvested at night, the grapes were gently placed into small opentop fermenters, where they underwent daily punchdowns. A portion of the wine was fermented whole-cluster, leaving berries on the stems to enhance complexity. After fermentation, the wine aged for ten months in French oak barrels.
Tasting Notes
Our 2024 Reserve Pinot Noir captures the essence of Anderson Valley’s cool climate, offering aromas of Bing cherry, ripe raspberry, pomegranate, with a hint of Lavender and baking spice. The palate is bright and balanced with a touch of Clove and underlying forest floor. This wine's bright and balanced acidity frames its velvet texture. A perfect companion to herb-crusted pork tenderloin, aged cheeses, roasted beet salad, or grilled salmon.
